Hi,

On our site we have a forum called "Events".
This is where we post information about upcoming events that the users may be interested in attending.

Some events have limitations on how many who can attend, others don't.
Today this is handeled by the user responding to the topic in the forum, and one of the moderators has to add the user to a list in the first post manually.

It would be a great feature for the users to have a RSVP button to just click, and their name would be added to the attending list right away. Click it again to remove your name from the list.
When writing the first post you would also need to have a switch to activate the RSVP function, and a field to set the number of availeble seats (0 or no value for unlimited)

Is this something you guys can pull off?

I am going to make a similar response on this one as I did on the bulk email post. Again - personal thoughts only at the moment.

Once again I would suggest you take a look to see if there are any WP plugins available that might fit your requirements. If there are then it is likely that they will offer some sort of shortcode option to embed the item in a blog post. If that is the case then it should also be possible to embed such a shortcode into a forum post and again - if such a plugin is available - you would almost certainly end up with a better overall solution.

See if you can find anything.

Well I'm not your usual lazy user who ask first and search later.
I actually did the legwork already by searching for hours.

Yes, there are many out there, and none has the exact functionality I need.
But I'm not the only one who would be using this.
If I use a workaround which includes the combined use of 2-3 plugins (including SP) I could make it work for me, but others who might use this on our site would need a 10paged guide to perform the task.

It would be good to not use a b-rated workaround.

well you are the first to ask for such a plugin so it of course has not been something we have considered... we usually work on new functionality that is driven by what folks are looking for most...

while we (Andy and myself) may not think its a particularly viable or high priority plugin, we adjust our thinking based on the requests of users...  the more that request something, the higher its priority gets...

I do get that it is a waste of your time to create a plugin that only one user has the interest of using.

I suggest a poll in you news feed.

we do periodically run some polls... and may in the future... currently we are focusing on getting a more mobile responsive theme available... once that is complete we will take stock of where we are at and what is next...
