Support Forum
I finally upgraded to 4.3.5 (and I'm running WP 3.0.3) and everything seemed to go smoothly, except I can't reply to any posts. The reply to post button dosen't do anything. It points to wp-admin/index.php, which doesn't seem right. I haven't changed any permissions so I'm stumped. Any ideas?
Ok, so here are some things that I've checked:
The forum wasn't locked (although it is now so that users will get the "this forum is in read-only mode message instead of being confused about not being able to post).
I tried disabling all my plugins (except SPF) and that didn't help either. Now all my plugins are re-enabled.
As far as changes go, I only made a few right after the upgrade completed. I guess I shouldn't have. I had turned on post ratings, refuse duplicate posts made by members and guests, and a couple of other minor tweaks that I can't specifically remember, but I can't think of anything that would suddenly prevent me and other members from being able to post. I'm really stressed out now. I hope one of you guys can point me in the right direction ASAP.
The website is ProjectsInMetal.com/forum. Please let me know if you need admin access or anything else. I have to get this fixed.
I believe your WP theme is missing the mandatory call to wp_footer() in your theme footer template. WP and many plugins require this but a lot of theme authors ignore it and do not include it.
This wiki article explains more with a link to help you correct this: http://wiki.simple-press.com/i.....conflicts/

You're magic my friend! Pure magic! It worked.
I had just given up for the night and crawled into bed when my iPhone chimed that I had a new email. I checked it hoping that it might be one of you guys and it was!
Checking my footer took seconds, and yes the code was missing. I typed it in, clicked save, and viola! My forum is working again!
However, I haven't changed my footer in months. Is there a change in the upgraded version of SPF that caused the problem?
Your quick response calls for another donation my friend and one is forthcoming. Thank you for your continued support over the last year.

Difficult decision... do I reply now and run the risk of waking you up again...[Image Can Not Be Found]
Yes - WP allows for javascript to be run in the footer. This makes things 'appear' to load quicker for your users. It is an illusion of course but one that is popular. So we have adopted that option.
The WP team have been getting so concerned about the number of theme authors who miss out this call that they are considering putting a check in place in the core code. We did not realise this was such a problem until we did it and we too will have a check in place in V5 in case the WP team abandon theirs.
Glad that was all it was. And as always - donations are very much appreciated.
