Support Forum
Hello!
I'm currently developing a website that has a valid SSL Certificate included and ALL the pages are https://
I know that USUALLY this would only be used on login pages or shopping websites, but I've decided to make my entire website secure and I've successfully done that.
However, my next plan is to include a forum using Simple Press and I would like to know if that would break my SSL pages.
For a page to be fully SSL, it does NOT have to include any http:// links. All of thos emust be converted to https://
Can anybody advise me if and how Simple Press would work perfectly on a SSL website, without breaking the secure connection?
Thank you!
Cristian
its a good question. we have never tested simple press on an ssl site - we dont have the capability...
I know some folks have reported successfully using it, but suspect thats primarily admin and login as you mention... we have had two reports of problems with ssl in the last few weeks too... so something may be wrong too... just hard since we cannot test...
but we do have an open ticket to take a look at this potential issue...
but we have tried to remove all hardcoded urls within the code and use WP defined constants instead that should have the proper http or https and build up from those... but over time, certainly possible we have slipped up...

Ok, than I'll start using wordpress 3.1 and SimplePress 4.4 as soon as they are released and I'll provide constructive feedback with the progress I'll be making on the SSL part.
I'm hoping for the best and I trust that you guys provide enough support here so that I'll manage to make it work without problems 😀
let us know if you find anything. holidays and the 4.4.0 release (when 3.1 does) slowing us down a bit, but would like to get any needed fixes in 4.4.0. both wp and sp are in beta 2 with RC coming any day so you could grab both and have a play. best way to get it in the release if any problems...

+1 on SSL / HTTPS support! I have a live site running SSL only over the backend (i.e. login / registration and the wp-admin bits) which generally works very well - except for SPF management. I.e., I have to disable SSL temporarily whenever I need to change (and in some instances simply see) settings. What I can offer is access to the site, so you can see what's going on; else, perhaps we could organize a little fundraiser for you (SPF team) to set up a testing domain with an SSL cert (and necessarily also a corresponding dedicated IP address) to play around...
I believe that I have sp admin stuff working under SSL. Would any of you care to try my fixes and verify operation?

this is old - March and long fixed...
4.4.4 works with ssl fine in admin... confirmed by multiple users... have you set the wp switch for ssl admin?

Yes. FORCE_SSL_ADMIN is enabled.
It's a mutisite installation with subdomains. Installation on blog de.myblog.com is not possible with admin ssl enables?!
Also I can't see (add as admin etc.) users which are only registered on the subdomain-blog and not on http://www.myblog.com.
Is this correct behavior?
