From what I'm reading it appears that version 5 may be out as early as June but more likely somewhat later. I cannot find, however, a summary of the features/fixes/updates that are planned for the release. Is that information posted somewhere and I missed it? Otherwise, would it be possible to provide a quick rundown?

Not June - not in a finished, usable state. Late summer is about as near as we can say at the moment. There are no published details as yet but the main 'big-ticket' items are (1) A move from skins to themes and templates (2) An SP plugin architecture with a lot of the current features moved to plugins (3) Auto-updating of the core plugin (4) a complete re-write and optimisation of database querying and (5) performance gains. Plus a very large number of fixes, small tweaks and a few new features yet to be documented.
That's the plan anyway!

yes, late summer is best estimate... any reference to June would have been for closed beta with theme and plugin authors - and thats not a given either... but the code will not be ready for any production site...
you can also look at our mantis bug tracker site if you want to see what else is in 5.0...

its most certainly not ready for a production site yet... but hope before too long to have an alpha period for theme and plugin devs...
but its always in svn - as I said, consider it unstable...

oh, totally understood! i was just looking for some screen grabs or a "highlight reel" list of the new things. something where we could see some of the new features, and what they might look like, and get all excited about them. you know, like a teaser trailer 🙂

understood. but the 'default' new theme for sp isnt done yet... and would hate to show it in the current state... though its functional...
