Support Forum
Hi Folks,
I had an idea that may add to the usability and scope of the simple:press software which i though i would share with everyone and the devs to see how feasible it would be.It's an extension of the upload viewer that is currently available.
It's a feature I know my community's users would find very would find very useful to be included with the uploads viewer, to help users manage their uploads and make more use of them.
I call it the Upload Manager. Here is a simple visual com from which i hope you get the idea.
The uploads manager would provide users with several capabilities away from the back end of the WP system, but give them more ownership of their uploaded content, allowing them to share, rename and delete content, as well as other capabilities that could be added.
The system could be accessed either through a users profile, as well as in the uploads area ( as the current viewer is ) and would work as pop up window that could offer scrolling or pages to view.
Just an idea - it may well already be in development. It would be good to hear your thoughts!
Thanks all, Rich
Actually we used to have something along these lines pre V5 but had to drop it due to (a) security issues and (b) it was unpopular!
Our current Uploads Viewer is at it's first iteration and I can well foresee that being developed further on in due course.
There are a couple of issues though - there is a fair bit of extra processing involved forum side to allow people to rename and remove attachments as the posts those attachments appeared in would also need to be automatically read, scanned, changed and saved again. But it is doable of course. Most things are in the end!
So - are you volunteering to write us a new plugin?

Haha! i knew there would be something similar.
I wish i had the capability and knowledge to write a new plugin, but unfortunately my development skill are confined to thinking up ideas...applying them is a very slow process for me.
If I volunteered, I fear you might be waiting for...well a long, long time!
Sorry Guys
Rich
