Support Forum
Hello Again,
This may be the wrong place for this request, but I can't seem to find anything that indicates whether or not the capability exists already.
I manage a Simple Press Forum with approximately 30 members in a Non-Profit group. The WordPress site serves as the public facing site for potential donors and interested parties. The forum serves as a communications vehicle for the members of the group that raises funds for the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, and bike ride that raises funds for cancer.
Whilst I want to keep the forum private for use by the members of the team, the team would like to have a page on Wordpress that displays a rider's profile publicly, with a few custom fields such as nickname, favorite color, favorite saying, etc. They want anyone to be able to look at the entire list of team members, and see any one of their profiles on the site.
So, to the question...I LIKE the ability to create custom fields for user profiles in SimplePress, so is there a way, or if there isn't, can it be made available, for me to create a WordPress Page, and dsiplay a member list, and then individual member profiles as they exist in the SimplePress component?
Something like this:
1. Page: Riders (Full list of Subscribers, with MAYBE a thumbnail from their Avatar).
- Rider One
- Rider Two
- Rider Three
- Rider n...etc...
2. When a user clicks on the avatar or linked text for the member name, a profile page is displayed for public consumption, that includes all common and custom fields as defined in the SimplePress Profile.
Thanks in advance for any ideas, even if the ability does not exist today. [Image Can Not Be Found]

the forum plugin already has a member list available to it... Look for the members button in the login area... For each member, you can open their profile... Now, not all profile information is shown as not all should be made public... Its not a separate page, but sort of does what you want...
For the second part, the short answer is no, not with out hacking the core code. Try searching the forum as I believe a couple of folks have hacked something similar... though there is no current way to make a user profile show up on a page of its own... there is a profile link above a users post, but that opens the profile info in a popup window.
profiles are getting a major revamping in v4.1 and we can keep some of this in mind when doing that...

Thanks for the prompt response. I am not surprised that the capability does not exist, it's not exactly core to the capability of a forum system of any kind, I guess. Wordpress is fortunately pretty extensible, and I know there are a number of plugins that extend the standard user fields. No doubt I'll find another way to accomplish this.
Thanks again for your help.

actually... looking at your initial request there is a plugin that does exactly what you need it to do...
look into http://wordpress.org/extend/pl...../profiles/
it has nothing to do with SPF and the profiles are admin editable only, the users do not have to be members for their profiles to be displayed.
just a suggestion.
