I would like to see the option to limit the pixel size (e.g. width & height or longest edge) of a user uploaded image. This would help to keep the images within the confines of the forum and our template.

Will that automatically resize all images to the width that i specify the thumbnail for? Lets say that I set this option to 500. But the image that is uploaded is only 200x300. Will that resize the image proportionately to 500? Or is the width you enter in this option the maximum size of the upload?

it only resizes if its bigger than the value you enter in the field.

Sorry if I get into this discussion, but I have a question to ask.
Images are sent full size and just resized on local browser, right ?
so the image size expressed in KB is the same and transfer time is also the same.
It would be nice to have a max KB size limit for images. Or/And a function that handles autamaticly compression ratio. I think there is a sort of plug in for WP.
