in both cases, it would also show you the build info which is more critical than the version...

did the updated version download and install right?  just not the upgrade?

Well I think it's all downloaded. Total commander says that all files and folders (as far as I can tell) were modified today at the time of update. So it's possible that it was installed? There are also files like sp-update.php and they contain upgrade routines up to 5.6

Full message from update page is here:

It appears you are attempting to downgrade your Simple:Press Version. The Build or Version number in the sp-control.php file is lower than the currently installed version in the database.

You must restore your database to this earlier version before you can continue. You cannot simply downgrade Simple:Press files as the database has been upgraded beyond the version you are attempting to downgrade to and may cause irreparable damage to the database.

No, I meant before the upgrade...  it would have told what version/build you had and what version/build you would upgrade too...

you could look in your db, the sfoptions table and see what the values are for sfbuild and sfversion...  and then compare to those in the sp-control.php file in your simple-press wp plugins folder...

To be honest I dont remember version/build info before upgrade 🙁

db - version: 6.0 ; build:12969

sp-control.php - version: 5.6 ; build: 13657

Now Iam really confused by that db version :O

well, actually...  its clear now - or at least more clear...

several releases ago, we actually mistakenly pushed out a misnamed 6.0 version...  only a handful of folks actually grabbed it before we caught it...  and in subsequent releases, we handled that particular upgrade case for the handful of users who did got it so the upgrade would proceed...

but oddly, hadnt thought we removed that special upgrade code yet... but perhaps we did... will have to check on that...

what you should be able to do is change that sfversion number in your database to  be 5.5.10 or something... and the upgrade will proceed...  upgrades are really based on build number...

On mobile? It was inevitable because of the display size.
