hi, I upgrade from 4.5.1 to 5.5.5.
everything goes ok, I can see groups and forums on "Manage Groups And Forums" panel but the forum page shows this:

"The requested group does not exist or you do not have permission to view it"

I checked all user groups and permissions, they are ok.
I search to find solutions to this problem but I couldnt find.

Thanks in advace!

Hey Mac,

Unfortunately this might be down to a bug where permissions become corrupt when upgrading from 4 - 5. It's not something we've ever been able to find or replicate, and so far has only affected a few users.

The fix is to reset the permissions in Forum > Permissions > Reset Permissions. The down side is the permissions will have to be manually rebuilt but If you have a pretty small forum then it's not such a problem, just make a note of settings.

No problem, glad to help - Sorry you have to rebuild the permissions but at least you are up and running!

Hi there 🙂  I'm having the same problem...  I tried deleting all permissions but it's still saying the group does not exist.  My link is here... http://www.socalstandup.com/forum/

I installed Simple:press 5 or 6  years ago btw...   Hahaha...  Haven't used it.  Just upgraded it now.  If that matters.

Thanks!!!

same problem???   this user was fixed by a permission reset... you said you deleted all permissions... not the same thing...

did you actually go to forum - permissions - reset permissions and do that?

other step would be to make sure wp page and permalink for forum is right on forum - integration - page and permalink...

if that doesnt work, please open a ticket in the support forum... the pre membership queries forum is not for support...

My bad...  It worked 🙂  I'm sure you don't remember me, but we chatted like half a decade ago a few times before this thing was so massive!  We emailed a few times about set up etc...  Anyway, thanks.  Hope all is well!  I'm just going to get this going on socalstandup.com for comics to chat about.  If you have any suggestions, let me know!  I'm sure I'll be buying a membership soon so I can get the right support.

Please forgive me for making this a zombie post, but I figure a reply to an accurately described problem was probably better than starting a whole new post about the same issue.

I have just upgraded from 4.5.1 to 5.6.4 using the published upgrade guide. After the upgrade I am getting the "The requested group does not exist..." error. I have tried resetting permissions (Forum -> Permissions -> Reset Permissions) but it didn't solve the issue, nor did I see anything that changed in the permissions or user assignments. Does anybody have any suggestions as to where to head?

if you tried resetting and it did no help, then you need to examine the actual permissions and make sure they are letting users view the forum...

you could also try forum - toolbox - housekeeping and resetting the auths cache...

this particular forum is a pre membership query forum not a support forum... if you need detailed help from the support team, please open a topic in the support forum...
