Can forums be accessible only to an existing user group?

Basically I have a number of users (managed by amember, but they are all normal wordpress accounts)
I'd like to have forums and topics only visible to a certain user group, a custom wp user role, created for each user and assigned by the amember software.
The WP user role is called "student" , eg wp-admin/users.php?role=student
Is it possible to just have a forum(s) viewable and accessible to logged in users that are already have this custom role?
Please note the role is added and removed by amember depending on what the users do in their account, so it changes regularly.
Many thanks for any help you can give.
Kind regards
Ben

Hi!
Thanks for contacting us!
What you are trying to do is done quite easily by using Simple:Press User Groups and Permissions. By creating a WP role, and mapping it to a specific user group, you can make sure that every user in that group gets the permission you specify.
You are welcome do install Simple:Press and test this setup using the free version. You don't need a pro license for the features you are mentioning.
Best regards,
Joakim @ Simple:Press
