Hi, I have been working with two other forums until I found SP and love it as I'm a huge fan of Wordpress! My question is I have a travel forum that has about 330 resorts and 30 or so destinations (geographic locations).
I was playing with this plugin and found what I was thinking might be the best way, but before I purchase a membership and dedicate a ton of time entering information, I thought I would ask for your opinion regarding the optimal setup of this forum using a combination of Groups, Forums and Sub-Forums as to make it as user friendly as possible.
Hopefully my question make some sense.
not sure there is enough info to give an absolute recommendation... but groups, forums and subforums are the way go for you, i think...
without knowing more, I would think you would create a series of groups based on geographic locations... but you might want to scale down from 30... come up with regions and sub regions... so maybe the group is by continent... North America, South America, etc... Then at the first forum level, further subdivide by sub regions within that region (continent)... you could drill down in the fashion with as many subforums as needed... or you could just make the subforums be the resorts...
30 groups would work, but might make it hard for users to scan and find the desired region...
