Is there a document that gives the setup procedure on a WordPress Multisite like the folder locations for each of the blogs and if it is possible for the root blog. I have run this on single WordPress installs but not on multisite.
No, it installs like the regular plugin... each network site (and the man site) are standalone... after installing you can see the directories used on forum - integration - storage location... you can also customize those...

Thanks Mr Papa, I noticed that I had to set folder locations on half of the options so I just placed them in the blogs respective folder like "uploads/sites/2/sp-resources/forum-smileys". I notice when I registered a user in the sub blog that the user never showed up in the users list but it let me login with that user. It also sent a welcome email with the url to the root main blog instead of that sub-blog to login so I will work with it to find the problem.
Thanks again for your help.
Terry
there are some intricacies of multisite that are not completely understood - likely because none of us here actually use it... when a user registers on a network site, it should create the account and all - in fact it does in testing... but there have been a couple reports similar to yours where the account is created, but simple press never gets notice of the account so doesnt create our added member info... and as you notice, we have a fallback in place so if the user logs in and his added member info has not been set up, we do it then... this is rare, but has occurred before... we just have not been able to duplicate it... must be the manner in which the registration occurs - such as a plugin that does not use the wp api..
as to welcome email, are you sure forum - components - login and registration, and forum - options - email settings are configured properly on the network site?

Yes I did confirm the network site had the right email settings for the new user email but it showed the url to the root. I wonder if having SP installed in the root as well causes issues in the network sites. Maybe I should remove it from the root and also deactivate for the network and activate on the individual sites. I will try that to see if it helps. If not I may have to install WordPress as standalone in each folder to be able to use this because the purpose of the site is just to have the different forums setup with different themes for different languages and locations to keep them separated.
are you sure the users are physically registering on the network site? and not on the main site signup with some some of membership plugin that copies the main site user down to the network site?
