Support Forum
Good day - thanks for this ability to ask pre-sale questions!
Our current online community relies heavily on Buddypress groups. Each Buddypress group has its own forum (which is crate automatically when the group creation wizard is completed).
Q1: Does simple:press support Buddypress groups where each group can have its own forum and forum access is restricted by group membership? (I don't mind even manually setting up each forum - it doesn't have to be automatic).
Q2: Does simple:press have shortcodes or something that would allow me to show the topics list by default on the group's home page? Currently, I manually create each groups home page and then add the bbpress shortcode for that group's forum.
Q3: Does simple:press support any type of "preview" or "excerpt view" of topics and replies? For example, in the topic List I would see the topic titles and also the first XXX number of words/characters of the topic. Or in the Topic View, I would see just the first XXX number of words/characters or each reply until I click "read more" and the reply expands (without refreshing the page)
thanks so much!
Hi:
We're not very familiar with the deep intricacies of Buddy Press. The integration we have is relatively simple - posts can show up in the BuddyPress feed and user avatars can be synced up. There is no explicit support or syncing for BuddyPress groups.
Thanks.
Thanks for the reply! Hopefully one of the other experts can help with the other two questions.
Oops - forgot to respond to the other two questions.
We don't have shortcodes but we do have something called "template tags" that come with a premium subscription. They're similar to shortcodes but are PHP functions that sends output to the screen. So you can use them in WordPress Child themes. You can find a list of them here: https://simple-press.com/docum.....plugin/. They do require you have some php knowledge and be comfortable creating and editing child themes in order to use them.
I think the ones that are most closely related to what you're looking for is Latest Posts and Newest Topics.
Regarding preview, unfortunately none of our themes implement that functionality.
Thanks.
