Hi, couple questions about your plugin. Sorry if they've been answered before, your site is kind of hard to navigate.

1. Am I able to add custom profile fields? Or, am I able to automatically insert information into a user's profile?

2. Does your plugin offer the ability to automatically email moderators every time there is a post on the forum which they moderate?

3. Can I have different forums on different pages?

That's it for now.

Thanks!

Hey Alysia,

For No.1, yes you are able to add Custom Profile Fields, you would just need to install the plugin, create your custom fields in the plugin options page, and add the custom field display to the theme template.

No.2, yes - you have the option for admins to receive email notifications for new posts which can be set up per admin, and using this alongside the Admin Bar plugin will allow the posts to be easily singled out for admins to view, mark as read or remove. If you want to be specific, you can also have an admin subscribe to an entire forum which will also give an email notification on new posts.

And No.3, not quite clear on what you are asking here. The forum sits on one WP page dynamically, and I am not sure you can have more than one install of SP on your WP site, however we do have a large handful of users (possibly more) that successfully run multisite installs, although I've never done this so can't really comment further on that one!.

If I am off the mark on that last one, please elaborate on what you are asking there..

Hope that helps.

Hi Ike,

Thanks for your response.

I think you're understanding Number 3 correctly. What I'm essentially looking for is having 2 separate pages with 2 separate forums. One page for Members and one page for non-members. The members page will have a "support" forum and the non-members page will have a discussion forum.

From what I'm understanding, this isn't a possibility without the use of 2 different wordpress installs, then?

No you are right there, because of the way SP integrates with WP, you can only have one forum, one page.

However, you can certainly achieve this with permissions and usergroups. You could for example have a similar setup to this forum, where only gold or silver members have access to our support sections. You can fully customise this to your liking with multiple usergroups, levels, and forums with limited access. Also, users only see the groups and forums they have access to.

While Ike is correct, all forum content appears on a single wp page, its really irrelevant...  on that single page, users will only see the forums that they have permission to see...  so users that cannot see the private forum will not see it or any of the content...   so if you only want nonmembers to see certain forums and members to see other forums, its all easily achievable with the simple press permission system...
