Support Forum
Just thought you'd like to know that after installing Jetpack that Simple-Press went bezerk by adding 4 front pages on top of my theme header and of course one front page where it belonged within the theme. Disabled Jetpack and everything went back to normal.
I've been hesitating making the membership plunge because I keep running into things that Simple-Press doesn't work well with, but I always wind up dumping the plugin that makes Simple-Press upset and keeping Simple-Press. That ought to tell you how valuable I think your Forum plugin is to the overall purpose of my website. So... give me just a couple more days and I'll make the purchase, cuz nothing else seems to come close to what Simple-Press offers.
I did have one other question regarding the icons... when building a new group or forum there are "select custom icon" tabs, but all of them are empty. This support forum has some pretty nice icons, do these icons or a pack of icons come with membership? If not how do I go about loading icons so I can use them?
Cheers,
Stephen B
Hey Stephen,
First of all glad you are enjoying the plugin! Unfortunately even though Jetpack comes from a reliable source it can be really disruptive to not only Simple Press but a lot of other plugins.
On the specific problem you mentioned have you had a look in the admin panel at Forum > Integration > Page & Permalink > Theme Display Options?
The icons we use here don't come with the plugin as they are our own custom icons, but you can add your own - See from the admin panel Forums > Custom Icons, then you can assign them in the way you mentioned.
One other question about icons... does it matter what shape the icon is? Round, Square, Triangle, you know? Or would I be trying to insert a round peg into a square hole?

Firstly let me echo what Ike said regarding Jetpack. It really is a somewhat insidious plugin in that it activates all kinds of add-ons that you may or may not want without letting you know it is doing it and without a UI that makes t obvious. It really doers give us and a lot of other plugins problems.
I would also stress Ike's recommendations that you look at the display options which are specifically designed to try and deal with rogue WP themes and plugins.
As to the 'shape' of icons the bottom line is that ALL images formats create files that result in rectangles. If you want odd shapes then it is still bound within the confines of a rectangle. But if you create PNG images then at least the areas not a part of the image can be transparent.

all that said, we do have a large number of users using jetpack and simple press... just have to get them configured right (check the display options as mentioned)
