Support Forum
So I imported from a vbulletin forum once, but I botched it. So now I want to redo.
I've tried uninstalling Simple:Press over and over, but now every time I try to use the Importer I get this message:
"Unable to Import: Your Simple:Press forum already contains data
This importer requires a new and empty Simple:Press installation"
I checked to remove all data and files, and have re-installed 3 or 4 times, why does it keep saying it already contains data when I've supposedly deleted all the data? How do I determine how to find whatever data is not getting deleted so I can run the Importer?
How curious. The actual check is made on the 'sfgroups' table. The query simply requests a count of the records and if a positive number is returned then that message is displayed and the process stopped.
So when you fully uninstall - have you checked the database to ensure all Simple:Press tables were removed?

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the quick response. That's the weird thing, I have indeed checked the database to ensure all the SimplePress tables are removed. They got removed each time.
I did have BBPress active as I was trying that software out too, but I deactivated it and same results.
Only data I can think of that SimplePress "left behind" after my initial import attempt are all the users that were imported which of course go to the wp_users table, but I don't see how that would affect anything.
hmmm...
I don't think data in the users table should have any impact as it's purely WP user data, although I'm sure Andy or Steve will correct me if I'm wrong there.
Just to clarify, are you uninstalling via checking the clear database and storage location boxes in Forum > Toolbox > Uninstall?
Can we also assume that after you uninstall you install SP again before trying the import?

Hi Ike/Andy,
Ike, yes I went to Toolbox, checked BOTH boxes, then deactivated to where it deleted everything, supposedly haha.
Andy, yes. Each time I uninstalled, then did a full reinstall.
It went something like this...
1st time:
went to toolbox and checked only the first box. deactivated, reinstalled, tried import, got error
2nd time:
same as above but checked BOTH boxes in the Uninstall section, deactivated, etc, got error
3rd time:
checked both boxes, deactivated, and deleted plugins (SP and SPImporter) from the plugins area, reinstalled both, same error
I was checking phpmyadmin to make sure the extra SP tables were being deleted too, which they were....quite strange!
To be totally honest I don't know what to suggest - short of editing the import code to bypass the check. I am unable to contemplate any way that mySQL could respond with a positive count on an empty table and I certainly haver never heard of such a condition before. Bypassing is about the best solution to that I have I am afraid.

Hi Andy,
No worries I understand. I'll keep troubleshooting and see if I can stumble on something.
If I wanted to bypass that check, any idea where exactly I'd edit that? If not no worries.
Thanks for the quick responses!
