Hello everyone,
My weblog (with WordPress) will turn this year to the age of 10 years
It may not be anything special. Just a place where I can write about my thoughts, opinions and what's all is in and around my life.
Most of those 10 years only I (and occasionally my girlfriend) have written on my site. But last year I opened up the site for our closest friends to post there as well. That was a good decision because it made the site more lively and diverse.
In the name of site ("A Fellowship of Friends") you may see a reference to the "Lord of the Rings" books by Tolkien.
Well, that is correct. Last year we have been as group on a 3 weeks vacation to the island of Lesbos. During the long walks we made through the valleys and over the hill slopes we made many jokes about being the fellowship on our way to the highest mountain on the island.
Apart from the articles posted on the weblog, we also exchanged small messages and remarks on Facebook. But facebook is turning more and more into an ugly place where you get attacked for having an different opinion. 3 of the ladies in our groups asked me if there was a more friendly way (and controled by us) way of exchanging these short messages within our group.
And it here that Simple:Press comes around: It provides exactly what we want. So currently I am setting up a number of public and private forums for us.
I really I have to say I like the product. I think we are going to have lots of fun with it.
Our weblog: A Fellowshop of Friends.
Cheers,
Rob.
And I wish you the very best of success. I hope it all goes well and smoothly.
We have other users who do this (including as it happens - my wife). And I agree with what you say about FaceBook - it has been grim for a long time but has really taken a dive over the last year.
