Hi,
I've been using SPF for a while now (great software) and finally got around to customizing the template. The tutorial on creating a WP page was especially helpful. The skin is a combination of GPL'd icons + buttons I made myself.
I'm probably not finished tweaking it but any comments or suggestions about the design thus far would be appreciated.

wow, nice start! you should think about contributing your skin and icon set! Love it when folks show off the power of customization that can be done with spf!
It says you are still using structure and three-en... you should really make these into your own, new skin and icons otherwise they may get overwritten during upgrade. the online help (in your spf admin area) gives you pointers on doing this. basically, copy the current folder (skin or icon) and paste as new name. for the skin, make sure the css file name matches the folder. It should then be available to select as your new them within the forum.
I assume you got rid of the breadcrumbs for a reason but it makes navigation back to the main forum page a bit harder imho.

Thanks for the comments/suggestions and the tip about making it into a new skin. The breadcrumbs were turned off mainly because it's just the one forum. I will definitely look into what all I would need to do to contribute it to the community.
Since the registration is also turned off I'm sure there are many icons that are not in use on my forum that would need to be skinned.
