Hello!
First post here--pleased to be around and would like to extend many thanks to the creators of this fabulous tool known as Simple:Press.
I recently launched my first blog: Making It in Today's Economy. After noticing that a significant share of the Web's employment-related advice is generic, outdated, spammy, or all three, I decided to parlay my extensive experience in human resources (and also my own nearly year-long stint out of work!) into a substantive guide for my target audience: the unemployed, the underemployed, and the unhappily employed.
The finer details of the blog's layout aren't finalized yet, but I warmly welcome any feedback and encourage interested folks to participate in the community!
Nice job and a very clean looking site. Hope it takes off for you.
Couple of comments.
I see the WP Site timezone is set at UTC-4. It's recommended that you set it using a particular location. (state/city). That's done in the WP General Settings page.
Also if your WP theme has a setting to turn off the display "Comments on this entry are closed." on the forum page. Just looks cleaner.

Thank you for the kind and helpful feedback, Brandon! It really reminds me how helpful a second pair of eyes is. (I never noticed before that the UTC-4 timezone setting didn't include DST--d'oh!) I also agree that the forum looks cleaner without the needless comments message at the bottom.
Thanks again!

Looking good. I recognise that red colour...
Thank you! When selecting the theme, I was seeking a dark red color that would match my logo and tagline--sure enough, the present theme fit like a glove. After getting forum access here, I was a little surprised to see that I had unknowingly paid homage to the creators of Simple:Press.
There is actually a little story behind the red SP overlay theme. When I converted 4.x over to 5.0 when it was in beta there was no good red overlay that I liked. I created one and submitted it to the guys and they approved it and added it in to their supplied themes.
I have since changed it quite a bit more and still use it on http://placeshiftingenthusiast.....com/forum/ as my base theme color. They then decided to change the site here to red but again made some other changes like the buttons. You will notice the button text here is white text not black like the original.
Same thing happened with the Shades of Gray overlay. I needed one, created it and they added it to their supplied ones.
Both the red and gray ones seem pretty popular now. So if anyone else has a color scheme they like I suggest you submit for inclusion into the Simple:Press themes. You never know but if included all theme updates that come out in the future will include your submitted one with any updates needed to it so you don't have to.
