Hi everyone!  I just got a new simplepress forum installed on my Tea Review Blog.  The direct link to the forums are:
http://www.teareviewblog.com/?.....e_id=1431/

Since they are brand new forums, I would truly and deeply appreciate anyone here would would come post on my forums.  Since I know that very few people here are into tea, I also created an advertising forum, where you can advertise your website, blog, or your own simplepress forum.

Since I will be promoting these forums a lot, placing your advertising post on our forums should get you some traffic!  View or post in our advertising forums here:

http://www.teareviewblog.com/?.....ur-website

Registration is required to post in the advertising forums, but is not required in Tea Chat or General Chat forums.

Thank you all for your time and consideration 🙂  And I hope to see you at my new forums - if you post in my forums and leave a link to YOUR forums, I'll come post at yours in return!

Nice, but I think things would look better if you changed your permalink structure away from default.

Also, some css in your wp theme skin is tending to space things out more than we had designed.  In styles.css, line 379, there is this directive

#center .mainContent .post p, #center .mainContent .page p{
padding: 5px;

which is causing some undesired padding (particularily in the stats box).  something like 1 or 2 px looks much better and uses up less real estate.

Now you may not want to change that in your style because it will affect every other page you have.  It is a slight nit, but if you want to change it, I would put the forum on a custom page template and then modify that style for the custom page only.

Also wondering if you tried the olota skin as it might match your wp theme a bit better?

Good luck with your site and forum!!!!

Thank you for the suggestions!  I did change the padding as recommended, but I sure am partial to the medival theme, as I thinks it gives the site a softer touch 🙂  Thanks so much for the tips - I LOVE Simple Press Forums!!! They are the BEST forums for wordpress blogs (and I tried several LOL).

Can anyone give me any advice on how to go about getting a solid community started?  It seems to me like it's really hard to get people to sign up and start posting.  I would welcome any suggestions from more veteran forum owners on making my forums more post-friendly and full of people!

Thanks!  😀

SEO tips can be had from other forums posted in this section. A few very informitive sites have listed their info here.

One of the strongest, least complained about, and most universally useable tools in SPF are the RSS Feeds. There are tons of feed tools out there to help you promote your feeds (and hence your forums). Try the Google Tools to create rotating img files of the latest posts with a link back to your forums for e-mail and myspace posts. Use twitterfeed to post a live feed from your forum to your twitter account. there are E-mail and SMS tools you can use, Google Site maps accept feeds for searches, you can even send your feeds to MediaPower and other News/advertising agencies 'News Sources' for promotion in major newspapers and TV and Radio outlets, world wide.

After Radio's practical advice I think all I can add is that it takes time. if you have something people want to read they will come but it takes time and patience...
