the 'code' to display a button is not different from one to another...  are you sure that users have permission to create or vote in polls where you are testing?  Its a forum by forum setting...

I should have the permission, Steve.

I am the admin of the site and the forum. The button was always there and now it's gone...

Try this:

  1. Open forum admin > Options > Global Settings
  2. Make sure that the option to 'Enable combining and caching of forum script (JS) files' is turned OFF
  3. Update panel
  4. Open forum admin > Integration > Page and Permalink
  5. Make sure that the option to 'Load javascript in footer' is turned OFF
  6. Update panel
  7. Clear your browser cache to remove all cached JavaScripts

See if that works for you. Seems to be perfect my end much to my surprise.

Any errors getting reported in the script console when you, say, add a new topic to a forum on which polls are allowed and active?

No Andy, no errors.

Just some notice, but I don't know whether they are related to it or not.

Notice? In the Script Console? I think you were looking in the error log. The script console will come with your browser and will be on the menu somewhere depending on which one you use.

  1. Open the Firefox 'web console'
  2. Choose 'JS' and open the drop-down. ONLY select errors
  3. Remove all displays from the other items (net, CSS, security etc) so that ONLY script errors will get displayed otherwise it will get messy
  4. Clear the console so it is empty.
  5. Load up a forum page in add topic mode. one that allows polls
  6. Copy and paste the resultant errors.
