Looking to change forum background colors

I'm trying to change our forum's colors that are set by our overlay (Late Summer.) Looking to change the following:

- background of main forum

- background of groups

-background of forums

- font color of sub-forums

From research I'm under the impression that I need to make changes to the overlay, but any color changes I make aren't reflected on my site.  I want to mention that I have made my own theme.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Before making changes to the overlay you want to turn off the combining of CSS in the forum admin section > Options - Global Settings. If on it will serve you old cached CSS.
Once off it should show you the changes. If you need any help as to where those colors are in the overlay let us know.
