Hi, is there a way to display the recent forum posts and/or the hottest forum topics in the side bar of a different wp domain than sp is installed on? Thanks for your help in advance.

not directly no... It would need to connect to a different WP database... you could take one of our template tags and modify it to connect to the desired DB and it should work fine...

depends... you could use rss feeds, but depends on your situation... wont work for private rss feeds for example and some other permissions set ups... but if you have a globally visible, open to guests for viewing forum, yes, you can use rss feeds...

I did end up using the forum rss feed and the reg wp rss widget since I had global visibility on the forum except one forum for mods, but the rss feed there was turned off already and it worked out.
