Can anyone tell me how to remove the grey underline that is appearing underneath icons(smilies/twitter etc) on my forum. It also appears alongside images.
I can't see whether this is a theme or overlay issue. I'm beginning to think that it may even be my Wordpress theme.

That is coming from your WP theme. It is adding a box shadow to all the images.
You can override it in your Simple:Press theme.
In the SP theme folder you will find a file named reset.css.
Find
#spMainContainer img,
#spMainContainer a img {
and add
box-shadow: none;
to the bottom of that entry.
This has been added to the next theme update so if you don't have a custom theme now you don't have to worry about adding it when an update comes out.
