OK, I'll back up everything first, then try the repair.

Meanwhile, is there any debugging information in SP that would yield some clue as to why the 404 is occurring now?  Were you able to see the issue at the links I provided?

I did the repair on wp_options and wp_sfoptions.  Still getting the 404.

I also tried deactivating all the plugins that were added or updated within the last two months.  Still the 404.

I did a repair on all of the wp_sf... tables.  Still the 404.

It's coming up on 2AM here.  I'll check back for suggestions in the morning when I'm more suitably caffeinated to continue this.

A new day dawns.  Any suggestions as to what I might try next?

I did find a database error reported in the SP Error Log:

file: ...wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-primitives.php
line: 312
function: sp_update_sfmeta
error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 's birthdays and upcoming birthdays.

Just download, install and ac' at line 4

UPDATE wp_sfmeta SET meta_type='news', meta_key='news', meta_value='a:3:{s:2:"id";s:1:"4";s:4:"show";i:1;s:4:"news";s:639:"

New - Post Thanks and Birthdays Plugins Released

Now available to download - the Birthdays plugin for your Simple:Press forum.

Post Thanks: Allows your users to give thanks to post authors for good post and includes a points/reputation system.

Birthdays: Allows your users to enter birtdate info in their profile and for you forum to show Today's birthdays and upcoming birthdays.

Just download, install and activate. Available on our Plugins Download Page.

";}', autoload=0 WHERE meta_id=15

Might this be related to the current problem?

My users currently have no access to any forum.  This is a serious and time-critical problem.  The possibility of just such a scenario is what motivated me to select a paid forum plugin with support rather than a free forum plugin.  I appreciate your timely response appropriate to the seriousness of the situation.

the biggest is trying to understand what changed... things do just break out of the blue... usually its something that has occurred on the site...

doubted it was the db but worth the try...

have you always had the older style pathlinks style urls vs custom urls?  that is, with the index.php in the url?

btw, I am getting tons of these:

Notice: Undefined index: HTTPS in /users2/data/t/tutorsystems.com-39577/public_html/dev/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-social-login/includes/plugin.ui.php on line 39

when visiting your site...  also is there a forum set up?  are you sure your db restore worked?  I cannot see any groups or forums right now where I could yesterday...

Yes, I have always had the same index.php in the url.

I enabled define('WP_DEBUG', true); in wp-config.php.  That's why you see all the errors now.

When I visit http://wilmington.crimeboard.o.....php/forum/ I still see the list of forums; however, the display is chock full of notices such as these:

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$post_tip in /******/dev/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/forum/content/sp-group-view-functions.php on line 993

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$user_id in /******/dev/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/forum/content/sp-group-view-functions.php on line 1004

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$display_name in /******/dev/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/forum/content/sp-group-view-functions.php on line 1004

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$guest_name in /******/dev/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/forum/content/sp-group-view-functions.php on line 1005

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$post_permalink in /******/dev/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/forum/content/sp-group-view-functions.php on line 1008

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$topic_name in /******/dev/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/forum/content/sp-group-view-functions.php on line 1009

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$post_date in /******/dev/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/forum/content/sp-group-view-functions.php on line 1010

Also many instances of this one:

Notice: Undefined variable: s in /users2/data/t/tutorsystems.com-39577/public_html/dev/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/forum/content/classes/sp-group-view-class.php on line 429

I did not do a DB restore, I did a DB repair.  I'm not sure it "worked" as I don't see any difference.

Can we make this private or redact the part of the path before wp-content?

so when you get the site back to where it was, if you want to send myself, Yellow Swordfish and BrandonC a temp account with both wp and sp admin capabilities, we can try taking a closer look...  I am heading off to work, so will be tonight... Andy though is on vacation returning today or tomorrow (cannot remember), so might be able to beat me to it...
