I am not sure what you have done... do you have an svn client? and did you checkout the sp core, plugins and themes?

Maybe this is why so many people ask to be testers and then don't. I've never worked with SVN before. I was thinking we could download the latest or nightly build and go from there. I'll have to learn this SVN stuff before beginning. I'm sure it's a good idea to have an understanding of this, I'm just not sure if I have the time. I also wanted to test it on both a local copy of a running site (upgrade) as well as a fresh install. It seems I'll have to then work with the two site via SVN? Not just get it once. This will now have to wait until at least Tuesday, as I don't have the time to read through how to get started with SVN. Do you have a simple step-by-step example maybe?
I'm not complaining! I'm just explaining, and trying to make sure I communicate so you understand where I am. I am committed to helping out with the testing [Image Can Not Be Found]

the original post asking for volunteers clearly stated that we would be running the 5.0 alpha from SVN. understand it could be buried in slew of other posts now...
have you read through this topic? multiple posts talk about getting started... but first thing you would need is an svn client (on pc would recommend tortoise svn - open source, free)...
and yes, you would need an svn checkout for each of the sites...
its not as daunting as it sounds - pretty straight forward, but understand having to learn new stuff...
a nightly build is something we are considering when we go beta and things slow down a bit... I can discuss with Andy any option or benefit of doing so now... with the SP updates now available in the WP updater, would be a chance to test it with other users...

Shari it really is easy, I had never done any of this stuff prior to this release and had it all working perfectly within a day or two. I was a complete luddite when it came to this stuff but I have been getting my hands dirty modifying code and all sorts of exciting things like that. There are plenty of willing helpers.

I just tried to do a ssh svn update and got the following message:
svn: Repository UUID '1c98814a-1604-11e1-9bd8-9393fc282e4b' doesn't match expected UUID 'e9d9f06e-4ef4-4d02-a494-9d0c99069192'
How do I fix this? I assume that this is something to do with the recent hosting trainwreck?
