Hello!
I just tried upgrading to v5 from 4.5.1. I am using current WP install. When clicking "Upgrade" it ran into some failures.

I turned off some obviously offensive plugins. Still getting this when loading pages in admin panel:

I did a bit of digging and it seemed possible my PHP version was out of date and I have Dreamhost upgrading to 5.3.x right now, should be done.. very soon. Beyond that, any ideas? And how can I reinitialize the upgrade?
Despite the errors showing, the Simple Press admin page is showing and... looks fine? I haven't tried doing anything as I suspect, based on errors, that perhaps the database didn't upgrade correctly. Any input would be appreciated.
Also, if this fails out hard, how difficult is it to revert to 4.5.1? I saved all my files, etc.

Well, it did turn out to be a plugin, but it wasn't as easy as disabling it to find out. I was using a user access management program that positively did not agree with Simple Press. The plugin is called Advanced Access Manager.

so all is good now? we have a few other folks using advanced access manager and have not heard of other issues... but first would have been solving all the php errors which you seem to have done...

I am having the exact same issue. My server is currently running php 5.2.17, with no plans in the immediate future of updating. (A little maddening, I think.)
lifetowardtwilight, did the php version upgrade fixed the problem? Or do I have to find some new and more interesting ways of arguing with my site?

Well - WP 3.3 only requires php version 5.2.4 so yours at 5.2.17 should be fine.
Those were all errors within WP (not SP as such) so there has to be a significant other factor at play- like the plugin that the first user had active.
