Silly question, but in my forum the mobile theme is identical to the default desktop theme. or that's what it looks like. when I'm on my smartphone the theme looks the same.

did you set them the same?  forum - themes - available themes,  forum -themes - mobile theme, forum - themes - table themes...

you can select one per... and yes, you could select the same - your chance...

Just installed the mobile theme. Looks good.

Is there any way, at the bottom of TOPICS, to add a buttons or links for:

  • back to main forum page

After posting a reply to a topic, especially a long topic, I find myself dreading having to scroll all the way up to the top of the page to navigate again.

Or, maybe I'm so tired i missed it?

Thanks, guys!

Yes, go to top was removed in mobile since its a quick, simple flick of finger to get to top... but of course, if you want it, you can put it back in...

just look in your spFoot.php template file...  you will find

            sp_GoToTop('tagClass=spRight spGoToTop&iconClass=spIcon', '', __sp('Go to top'));

but its in a !mobile check, so just move it out of the check to where you want it to appear (probably right after the check)...

as to the back to main forum page, its there in the breadcrumbs on mobile, just like desktop mode...

of course, its your template files, so you can add anything you want... want a link to main forum page at bottom, just add the html for link in your template files where you want it (ie right after go to top button)...

Ok, I'll give that a look/try. It's not a quick simple flick on iphone, it's like 5-10 flicks even with just 10 replies per page listed or whatever. The length of that flicking depends on how long your replies typically are. Sometimes replies are quite lengthy, so it can be way  more than even 5-10 sometimes. I think it's a great feature to add back IMO. I'll give it a hack, but my suggestion (as you guys want our honest feedback and suggestions) from a user standpoint, is have some sort of way to get to the top, or main forum page, without having to go into the code.

Thanks for the help.

I did have it on on the mobile theme in the early days but it was voted out...!

However - I do not now if it is all browsers but certainly in native safari just tapping the browser title bar will auto scroll the page to the top...

Man, I wouldn't have voted it out. I hate messing with code, then on updates having to remember. My users jump from topic to topic to topic, it just makes it tough. I will probably edit the code, but like I said, I'd rather not if it is something that can be requested and others agree it's a great item to add back. I just don't see why it would get voted out. Again, it's not a simple swipe to the top at all from my perspective. I hear what Mr Papa is saying, I'm sure some forums feel speedy for that, but not all. Plus, i know some want it button free, but what harm is a button at the very end :) when the scrolling is done and the show is over anyway? :)

No, you dont have to remember on updates...  just use your own theme (see http://codex.simple-press.com/.....g-a-theme/)  update proof... only side effect is that if we had new features, and add them to our themes, you would have to do similar...
