We are looking for a way to remove the ability for users to close forum listings, along with remove closing icon too. We seem to be lost on how to do it.

you realize, that only affects their view? it has no impact on any other user...
but if you still want to remove it, just remove the template tag that is displaying it... its in your group view template file in the sp theme you are using... as always, have your own theme before making any changes so you dont lose changes on updates...

We search for the wrong thing. We were looking for spGroupOpenClose without the underscore. I guess that's why we couldn't find it.
