Support Forum
I had a service call gConverter do it and they actually were able to get the issue fixed from their side which is great. I would, however, appreciate any help in pointing me in the right direction as far as ensuring merged forums are ordered properly. For some reason it seems that all topics are ordered newest to oldest and then the merged "from" topics follow after those. So a topic from last week shows up after a topic from 5 years ago. I'll do some searching on these forums to see what I can find.
Thanks for the quick response on my first question yesterday.
On your first question of asking what might have been wrong then I have no real idea not being privy to what gContvcerter did or found. My best guess is that they did not create the indices properly.
On the question of sort order then don't look at this forum for an answer... look at your own forum options! You will find the settings in there.

First question not an issue any more. My apologies if that wasn't communicated clearly. Regarding the second issue, forum options was the first place I went when attempting to solve the sorting issue myself. Unfortunately, I am encountering something that appears to be outside of the scope of those settings. Screenshots below show pages 1, 119, 120 & 121 of 122 total pages of TOPICS. 120 pages were merged into a forum containing 2 pages of recent topics. I can't seem to determine why all imported/migrated (then merged) topics appear sorted new-old within pages 1 - 120 an then are followed by the original topics that are no more than 2 weeks old. Basically, new followed by old followed by new.
Not looking for a hand out, just a little guidance.
The only thing that occurs to me would be that the post IDs are in the wrong order. SP uses the post_id to perform the ordering not the date. This really amounts to the same thing as the OD is an incremental number which is really what a date is as well.
So - is it possible that these two new posts at the end have been given an older post_id in the conversion process? You can view the last post_id from the properties popup available on the forum tools menu (click on the small tools icon that appears beside each topic for the tools menu)

It might also be worth going to forum - toolbox - housekeeping and rebuilding the forum indexes... worth a try and wont hurt...
