Support Forum
Tried a search for this first but didn't find anything that looked to address this.
I meant to delete a post/reply and accidentally deleted the whole topic. Luckily I still have the blog article. Two questions:
1) Any way to recover the deleted topic?
2) If not, is there a way to rebuild the forum topic so that it is also connected to the blog post (without having to re-publish the blog post)?
No way to retrieve the lost topic I am afraid, except for a backup restore. Some kind of trash bin system is planned for the future but sorry to say it is not there yet.
Re-publishing (via an update) the blog post would just create a new topic so I am guessing that is probably not what you want. About the only way would be to add a new link record to the database which I can talk you through if you like - but it would be a manual manipulation...

If it can be done through the backend dashboard then yes. If it involves coding or changing php files, then know.
I guess the important question is that if you want to recreate the link to a forum topic - but as that topic is lost - how do you propose going about recreating it? You are going to need a starting topic post (i.e., copy of the blog post) at the very minimum and you can get that by simply opening the blog post for editing, making sure the forum link questions are filled and set and then updating the blog post...

Got it, thanks!
Wasn't sure if I could do that once I broke the link, but I was. Appreciate the assistance!
I don't know if this is a helpful idea, but I've done this two or three times by accident. I mean to delete the "reply" only but end up deleting the whole topic.
When I click on the editing tools for a "reply" it gives me the option to delete the entire topic.
Maybe you can consider not providing the option to delete the entire topic when editing a reply.
not sure what you mean... how do you delete a topic when editing a post? not sure how you mechanized that..
do you mean using the forum tools? and you selected delete topic instead of delete post? if so, and we removed it, would make it hard to delete a topic...
if you did manage to attempt to delete the topic, did you not get a confirmation box?
or if I am just missing your point, please elaborate...
