Hi there,
I was wondering if you could please help direct where to activate "Users must be registered and logged in to comment" in the Forum settings.
I can see this setting in the WP admin> Settings > Discussion.
I have ticked the box but it doesn't seem to apply to the Forum itself.
I believe since the Forum has it own setting, it overrides default WP settings.
Please help.

It's not really an activation type of thing. All guests and members of your site can be assigned into different user groups and in these groups you can setup what they are allowed to do.
It can be a little confusing at first because there are quite a few options and ways you can setup your forums. Probably the best thing to do is to go through some of the codex entries in regards to setting up user groups and permissions and then if you get stuck come back.

that is a wp setting you are playing with... its for comments on wp posts and has nothing to do with the forum...
