How do I go about finding which plugin needs updating? I currently have no update required message.

Okay, the issue for me was being caused by your Editor TinyMCE Rich Text plugin, so disabling that fixed everything ;)

Yes - this was all caused by the TinyMCE update within WP 3.9 and plugins that added stuff to the editor that did not get updated. Glad you found it... hopefully the authors will update it and support the editor properly.
