Support Forum
Hi -
I'm using the Reboot theme, and the Add Reply button is not working. After searching in the forum, I found the suggestion to turn off JQuery in the spFunctions file, so I tried that but it didn't make a difference. I had also been using a child theme, so I changed to the parent theme, and that didn't help, either.
If I do a force refresh of the page, then I can usually get the button to work ONCE, but then if I try to make another reply, the button doesn't respond. The button does highlight when I mouse over it, but nothing happens when I click on it.
This is happening on both Macs and PCs with all different browsers.
Any ideas on what could be going on? It's causing some headaches for my admins, since they cannot get the reply buttons to work at all.
Thanks!
There will almost certainly be some sort of script conflict with another plugin or WP theme. I am not sure where the idea to stop jQuery loading came from but that would be under some sort of special circumstance.
This FAQ explains the most common sort of conflict - https://simple-press.com/docum.....-conflict/
And this one describes how to use the console to fund errors: https://simple-press.com/docum.....r-console/
feel free also to give us a link to your forum se we can see what is being loaded.

Hi -
I just noticed that when the button is not going to work, the Tooltip doesn't appear. When the tooltip appears, the button works.
I'll check out the links you provided and see what I can decipher from the info.
Our Forum is password protected, so I'm not sure how to give you access.
Thx!
That's a curious one. It might be red herring of course, but...we have seen the occasional conflict with tooltips when more than just SP is defining a tooltip library. We do utilise the standard WordPress supplied jQuery Ui for tooltips but we have seen conflicts when other plugin load alternate libraries.
So try this. In the spFunctions.php file of your Simple:Press theme (you can edit this in the theme editor admin panel of SP) - at the very to is an option to turn off SP graphical tooltips. Just change the word true to false and then see what happens. If nothing changes then it was a red herring!

Hi!
That seems to have done the trick. I did change that value previously, but it was in the parent spFunctions file, not the child theme file. When I used the SP Theme Editor, I was able to update the correct file and now the reply button appears to be working for me.
I'll see if my Admins are able to now use the buttons.
Thanks!
