Have you read any of the above? Two people have now inspected your site and we have both told you exactly what the issue is. I have suggested you look in the options and also told you where the offending code is likely to be. You find it - I can tell you how to fix it. I cant find it - I don't use Thesis.
Or - if you do what you yourself suggested in post 5 - you can ask someone else to fix it. I also told you to show them the codex article which explains what they need to do.
What else do you want from me? It is not actually an SP problem but I am doing my best to help you.
Your last question is a good one. For most people this would have been a problem in V4 and if it wasn't for you then that was luck. In V5 we have tightened up our WP integration and throughout use the proper and standard WP API. Your theme doesn't.
It does occur to me that you could try turning off the loading of javascript in the footer (Forum Admin > Integration) then if SP tries to load scripts before Thesis the proper WP libraries will win out. But that too would be luck if it worked.

Guys,
It was just a couple of days ago that hired someone to fix the problems on http://www.singularityweblog.com/forum/ arising from moving to Simple:Press 5.0 as discussed above. He did a fantastic job and everything was working great.
Today I updated to 5.1 and what a surprise - things got messed up again. I barely managed to get it mostly back on by reuploading the default theme... Now I have to hire someone again to place back the previous color scheme and custom icons.
Do I have to pay you membership fee so that I can pay someone else every time you release an update?!
This is not a good business model for your customers.
My blog's forum has very light customization - just custom icons and color - that is it. It doesn't make any sense that it breaks every time there is an update and all my effort and money keep going down the drain...
wow, not exactly helpful... thousands of upgrades have gone fine, so my answer would have to be 'no'...
every button I click on your site works fine... of course, since you dont allow guest posting, I cannot try that...
and sorry, no clue what you mean by 'get it mostly back by reloading default theme'... assuming you had your own custom theme, then not sure what issue you would be having... if you were using one of our themes, had made changes, and lost them on upgrade, well, we cannot any more strongly urge to our users that they make their own theme before customization...
so if you could provide just a bit more info, we can work to get you back where you want to be...

There was a custom theme but the same story keeps happening again. So, in short, after our last conversation I paid again $50 for someone to fix the issues related to Simple:Press 5.1.
Of course, couple of days later - 5.1.1 gets released. This again messed up all previously described things including the inability to add topics. So, again, I will have to pay to fix the latest fix you just fixed with 5.1.1...
All I can say then is that whoever you are paying to fix things is not doing things properly.
There is no way an upgrade can effect a custom SP theme - the upgrade is totally unaware of it's existence.
There is no way an upgrade can effect a WP theme - we do not and never would touch that.
The only way custom SP code can be changed by an upgrade is if it is made in one of the SP supplied files - core, theme or plugin. And this is also true of WP, WP themes and WP plugins. And this is why here are structures in place within SP to avoid this happening.
I have no idea what you paid your $50 coder to do. If you tell me what they did and what they changed then I can tell you what was wrong.
Your forum states quite clearly in the about popup that is is using the 'default' SP theme. So if your coder changed that then you must expect those changes to be destroyed if you update that theme. We state over and over again that if you make such changes you need to do so in a copy/custom theme to avoid this happening. So whoever made changes - assuming they did - ignored this advice.

This time I was not even using a custom theme but your default one. The only thing customized was the forum icons. Here is the input I got from my hosting people regarding the issue:
"Nick,
I've restored the custom icons folder... it seems those are stored in the plugin folder so when it updates it erases those. Seems like a poor design on their part... but I'm not really sure."
Custom icons are not - during the SP install - put in the plugins folder. Nor are they during an update from a pre-V5 system. A folder should be created under /wp-content/sp-resources to house custom icons and the that folder name be entered into the storage locations label under forum admin > Integration.
So I am afraid that 'poor design' is yours, not ours. I suggest you move them.
