Well - this one has been discussed a lot... so let me see...

First - make sure you are on the latest versions of  WordPress, Simple:Press and the SP tinyMCE editor plugin.

Assuming you are then there are a couple of common reasons. The most common is that you also have another WordPress plugin active that is adding a component (i.e., a toolbar button) to the editor but has not been updated to work with the new TinyMCE editor as now used by WordPress. So - if you have any plugins that add to the editor try deactivating them to see if that resolves it.

A simple jQuery script conflict can also cause this behaviour  but let's wait in this one.

It is also possible that if you have changed the tinyMCE editor option settings in the forum admin and made an error that this to can cause the problem. Only you know if you have changed them of course.
