Hi all,
Is there a way to automatically add members to an email subscription list?
We're thinking of sending out a monthly newsletter to our members.
They can of course unsubscribe.
However, I haven't seen an easy way to do this?
And how would this work if people sign up with their Facebook account for example?
We do not provide a mailing list type system via Simple:Press - mainly because there are already other WordPress plugins that will allow you to do this. I would take a look through the WP plugin repository - hopefully there will be something there that will fit your requirements.

Its been a while since I worked on the site but I can't remember where the setting for requiring new members to use their email address was set.
I was testing Janrain to allow 3rd party signin, ie Google, Facebook etc.
Perhaps this was where its set.
I guess I'm trying to ensure that all forum members have to use an email address to sign up, then we can use mailchimp or similar for our mail campaigns,
WP by default requires a user to enter their email address to sign up.. nothing has changed... SP does not let folks sign up, we just send them to the wp functionality for that...
so if you look at the wp users table in your db, you will see that you have an email address for all users...

I would suggested using a membership plugin to integrate with Aweber or Mailchimp like: Mempress or Wish List Members.
Im not sure if they need to sign-up for the forum separately or if it's done in one single motion.
Maybe Mr Papa could fill us in on this since he is familiar with WLM?
No, if you use a membership plugin for wp, it just creates a wp user... we dont have our own users...
