Adding new users through Multisite

I am running Simple Press on a Multisite as one of the sites.  When I originally activated the forum it imported a list of all the users - I suppose from the network user database.  That's all fine.  But now when a new network user registers, he is not showing up as added to the forums.

Is there a way this can just happen?  My goal is whenever someone registers on the site as a new user, through the main site registration function (users appear in the network user area) that they will automatically be added to the forums so they can post?

I am using the Multisite User Management plugin and have assign new members on the forums set to "members".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

so each forum is unique to each multisite network including the main site...  so if a user registers on network site 4, they would get access to the forum on network site 4...  but they would not get access to a forum on any other network site or the main site since they are not members there...  if that is what you want, there is a mulitsite user plugin, might be the same one, but you need to have it create the user role on the sites desired...

Thanks but that's not what I want.  I want one user registration - which we now have that apparently registers people on the network - and once registered they can access the forums which is one of the sites on the multisite.

as I explained, that is not how multisite works...  you only become a user on the site your create/register... if you want to be a user on another network site, you need a plugin or something to add you as a user on that other site...  each network site in wp multisite is a unique instance... and that is a wp choice, not ours...

OK, I think I understand.  So, let's say I overcome that hurdle and when someone registers the user will be added as a member, or subscriber, or whatever.  How does the member, once added to the site where SP is located, get added to the SP user database?

Another question to try and help my understanding.  Where does SP pull the user database from when it initially installs?  What rolls?  Members, subscribers, - is there a default role that it chooses.

I think I can make sure whenever a network user is added that I can have that user added to the individual sites and select their role.  So, what role would be the correct one for SP so it gets available to the SP user database?

Thanks for the help.

not sure I follow the end goal here... you probably would want to make them a subscriber and then the sp user to usergroup mapping handle the memberships gained on the network site they were added to... but it really doesnt matter what the role is along as on the user to usergroup mapping sp admin panel, you map it to the usergroup you want them to gain membership in...

That actually helps a lot.  I hadn't seen the mapping options.  Thanks.
