Admin approval of new member registration?

Is it possible to get admin notification/approval when a new member signs up so they don't have access until they are approved? I'm running a forum that is a feature of a larger membership and I need this gateway to access.
I've tried using Registration Plus Redux in addition to SP but I'm having email delivery issues with it. I might try another plugin outside of SP but I wasn't sure if there's a way to address this directly within SP. Thanks!
No, not within simple press - too many plugins already provide that ability.
