Support Forum
Hi,
We want to use images that we have already uploaded to a specific folder for each member as their avatar in the forum. We have a custom field in the WP database with the image's URL for each user.
Is there a way to link to these images for each member's avatar without messing with the theme code?
Essentially, we'd like to link each user's photo to their posts without too much custom coding...
Thanks,
David
Are those avatars their default WordPress avatars? If so you might get away with changing the Avatar setting in Forum Admin > Profiles - Avatars to use WP avatars. Drag it to the top of the list and save.
You can see if the forum will pick them up and use them instead.
At first thought I can think of no way that wont involve some sort of coding. I reckon you might need to just construct a simple function to return the picture for a known users ID and replace the forum avatar function with it. Unless any of my colleagues can think of a better way...

do the uploaded images change? I guess you could copy or point our avatar pool url to this directory... then users could select their avatar from this pool of images...
