in addition subscriptions plugin does not work. none of my users get subscription emails or weekly digest email

I don't see you being subscribed to this topic but if you were then you would receive an email after I post this. Subscriptions do work.

Have we not had discussions with you before about email? I could be wrong but I thought I recalled registration email problems. If so then the same answers apply here. Simple:Press does not send emails. We pass emails over to the WordPress email subsystem for sending.

Do double check your email settings on the forum admin > options > email settings as these are used for packaging up emails. If in doubt remove them. After that people who have issues with WP sending emails are legion - it is a very common problem., In fact we have issues with it on this site. We use a simple little SMTP plugin named 'HGK SMTP'  which works for us and, I believe, most of the users we have helped with this issue over the years.
