Support Forum
Ok. Sounds good. Long term, I hope you will also have some kind of default subscribe to all possibility where people have to choose to unsubscribe rather than choose to subscribe (this was the case with Mingle Forum). My intention would be if I could set this email to send it to a mailman account for distribution to everybody when a post is made. A bit messy but it would be a temporary work around.
It would nevertheless be useful to have an email field in that area instead of send to admin, send to email for the times when the moderator might be different to the admin, if you understand what I mean.
currently, it can go to every admin/moderator that has elected to receive the notification... will have to discuss with Andy where he was thinking of filtering as it could be tricky how to replace...
lots of folks have requested a subscribe to forum feature, but we have frankly resisted because that is what RSS is for... and with limited time we dont want to recreate the wheel... additionally, we get a lot of non technical people who would blindly enable that on their large forums an wonder why their server crawls from sending too many emails and maybe even get questions from their hosts...
actually figured given the simplicity of doing that via an sp plugin in 5.0, someone would have already implemented it... but alas...

I think that the option to subscribe to forum should be a feature. If people misuse it then it is up to admin to disable it. With small yet intensive groups it is almost essential to be able to do this. I don't see RSS as the alternative. Most people in my experience don't make use of RSS and don't even know how to exploit it. I can't even make it work on my forum in Safari whilst yours does work and mine works in FF and Chrome - so obviously there is something I don't understand here too let alone getting my users to get into that. I want to get my groups of mailman and onto the forum and that is proving impossible without a simple means of automatic notifications to standard email accounts.
So if that could be done with relative ease - please do so - even if it understandably is against your better judgement. If people get flooded with email notifications I can just say 'unsubscribe' otherwise, how can I tell them to 'subscribe' if they haven't done so?
