Hello,

I'm using a responsive theme both as a Wordpress theme and as an SP theme. I made code adjustments as outlined here in SP in order to add Google ads between each group and after certain number of topics and the Google ads are not responsive.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Take a look here at what Google recommends for setting up Adsense in a responsive theme. Maybe that will help?

I've done everything properly according to Google and already use responsive Google ads within my website theme separate from SP.

I believe it is an issue with SP as the only ads that are not responsive are those that I implemented through SP theme template files.

dont really see it as simple press... the vast majority of your ads (lol, and its a lot per page) are showing responsive...  I only see one that is not and its a bit different... it gets inserted as an iframe with an explicit width from google....  since it in a inframe, neither the wp theme or the sp theme can give it css to control its responsiveness...  is that one ad launched differently?

The header and footer ads are implemented through my Wordpress theme.

The Google ads are all the same ad unit, but implemented through SP theme templates and that ad shows up a few times between each group. This is the ad that is not working in a responsive manner, though Google says it should based on the way it is implemented.

How can they possibly be 'responsive'? They are - as Mr Papa has already pointed out - creating an iFrame with a pre-set width of 728 pixels defined within the iFrame tag. This seems to be the case regardless of the display width of the device.

So - it simply means that the code you have used is not responding to the available width.  Which means it is not responsive.

And because the iFrame with is defined in the iFrame tag nothing is going to change that.

looks like you are using jarida, great theme, from my experience it just doesn't look good on mobile, one thing I noticed was your main site is showing desktop and forums is showing mobile view on my galaxy s5, not sure if you have it set up like that or it's a caching issue, the best way I have found to use adsense for mobile with the forum, is to not use responsive ads, you never know what's going to be served, a huge 300x250 ad just doesn't look good in the header on a mobile view imo.

your only option is probably going to be to specify a smaller mobile ad for the unified theme, with Jarida, it is going have to be relatively small because of how narrow the theme is on mobile and tablet view

you can look through my user ID on tielabs support forums to see all the issues I had with jarida,

http://support.tielabs.com/for.....sers/kvr28

there is a lot of tweaking needed with it to tie in well with SP, another one I can point out to you is a zindex issue with the log in on mobile, you can see the same on your forum

responsive video display is another big issue with Jarida on the forum, it took me awhile to get that figured out

This is not a knock on Jarida, it's has a lot of positives and we used them for a long time,  it just doesn't tie in well with forum and mobile displays, I had to add a lot of custom css to make the forum look good

that's what I have found with themes, they either look great on the blog side and look horrible with the forum, or vice versa, very few do both really well

we ended up going with newsmag, it looks great on mobile, tablet, and desktop and the forum fits and looks perfect, you can see it here if you want on mobile, I don't have ads enabled on it right now, I was a bad forum admin and didn't listen to MP and Yellow and create a custom version of unified, so I lost my ads when it updated, just haven't gotten back around to putting them back, after I create a custom theme of course wink

if you decide to stick with Jarida, let me know and I'll fire it up on my staging server and pull all my custom css off it to give you a good direction to go in as far as modifying to look better

sorry for the ramble, just wanted to give my 2 cents

kvr,

Thanks for the awesome detailed response.

The forum and theme are great on all browsers (desktop) and on my iPad.

I'm having a boatload of troubles with the mobile version. With Jarida, I have turned off responsiveness for mobile and tablet, but the issue I have then is that I can't click through to the forums. So I see my forum index, but when you tap on a forum, it just bounces and doesn't go anywhere.

If there is a way to fix this I'd be more than satisfied....maybe a way to stop the forum from being responsive?

Please let me know.

Thanks

stop the forum from being responsive?  just select a non responsive forum theme...  basically any but Unified...  you would want to set that theme as the phone theme and possibly the tablet theme...
