After latest update, forum page defaults to mobile view?

My forum page seems to be defaulting to mobile view, even if I disable mobile themes, and it happens with any theme I use.

This causes the forum to be full screen/width, while my site header and other info is below.

I've attached a picture showing the bottom of the forum page. My forum used to show up below my header/menu and above my footer section.

As I mentioned, I've tried multiple themes and even turned off both mobile phone/tablet themes and it the problem remains.

Is this how it's supposed to look in the current version? Or do I have something else going on?forum.jpgImage Enlarger

Just wanted to add another picture to compare, this is from my test site which is running 5.5.3 as opposed to 5.5.4

It shows how the forum is fitting properly within the page, below the header and above the footer, with the proper width.

Hey jkswopes,

Am I right in thinking you're running Default theme with the Minimalist overlay?

I'm a little confused as to what you are saying, so maybe you could just clarify for me..

When you say you've tried different themes, are you referring to WP theme or SP theme? The reason I ask is when you say it's the 'forum page' which is defaulting to mobile, then it's going to be something to do with your WP theme.

It's always best to start with the simple stuff, so are you sure you are not in some kind of responsive design view in your browser? Do you have any mobile / responsive WP plugins running? Do you have any options with your WP theme to change mobile / responsive settings?

Also, are you all up to date with WP and plugins, SP and SP plugins, and any theme updates that might need to be added to a custom theme if you are running any changes or a child?

Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick here, maybe you could link us to your live forum if that's where the problem lies as opposed to your local test site?

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried multiple SP themes, I am indeed running the default theme with minimalist overlay but switching that doesn't make a difference.

The forum was running fine until the last update, I do not have any mobile/responsive plugins running.

I say forum "page" because it only happens on the page the forum is running on (has been running fine for many years), the rest of my site displays correctly.

I'm not sure if it's possible to revert to 5.5.3 after updating to 5.5.4 to test?

My forum is not public so I can't link to the live forum.

Sorry but ) am somewhat confused as well as to what you mean by 'mobile view'. What 'mobile view'? Especially using the default theme which has no special 'mobile view'.

Can you pan out a bit on your screenshots and explain what is actually happening?

And perhaps think back to what else has been updated? I.e., WordPress theme, WordPress itself etc...? And I mean prior to the SP upgrade from 5.5.3. to 5.5.4

Thanks for the reply.

I meant the mobile view of the forum, as if I were viewing it on my phone/tablet. The entire forum is the full width of the page. I've tried in multiple browsers as well as clearing browser cache just in case.

I noticed it after updating from 5.5.3 to 5.5.4, I'm running WP 4.1

I'm attaching two pics, the full view of the current site which is displaying "incorrectly" and the second is my test site which is what it normally looks like. fullview.jpgImage Enlargerfullcorrect.jpgImage Enlarger

I think the confusing part for me is that the only change I can see there is in your WordPress theme, not the forum itself..

As Andy said, Default theme doesn't do anything differently for mobile, and will display exactly the same on a mobile device as it will on a desktop. The only thing that might change when viewing the forum running Default theme on a mobile is the width of the page - which you are seeing there - and the page can only be controlled by the WP theme not Simple Press.

This is why I was asking if you were running any responsive / mobile converting WP plugins that might be responsible, or if there are any options within the theme that might be affecting the display?

Also just out of interest, what happens when you run Unified theme as the dedicated mobile theme?

But you didn't answer my question regarding other updates made since the 5.5.3 forum. In particular has there been an update to your WP theme? Or even a change in the settings or options you are using for it?

Further - if you go to the forum admin > Integration > Page and Permalink panel - bottom right - Theme Display Options - have you tried either of the top two option in there?

Thanks for the replies, I hadn't updated WP after the SP update.

I actually tried the two options in integration page before posting here, but they wouldn't save, just kept timing out on me. I just tried the top one alone "limit display within wp loop" and that fixed it. Probably should have tried them one at time before posting instead of trying to do both together.

Either way, it's working fine now, many thanks for the quick support on a weekend :)
