Good evening all,

Hopefully you can assist.

SP5.5.21
WP 4.0
Multisite
Forum location mainsite.co.uk/forum/

Running Domain Mapping plugin from WPMU which has set admin and login to SSL but the front pages are default http.

I have had this same issue before and managed to resolve it by deactivating the plugin, enabling on the main site, deactivating conflicting plugins, then it will allow me to update otherwise the update notification is Only present on the subsite with the forum on and the update doesn't work when it redirects me to the Network plugin/updates page. Then afterwards last time the site returned http.

I have an update waiting as you can see but haven't been able to upgrade yet due to time and the complexity.

All the forum links and rss feeds are https. I can force frontend pages to http using the domain mapping plugin but this doesn't change any of the links (when you hover them they say https) however the pages do then load over http.

The issue is all the redirecting taking place and also all the subscription notices going out with https links in.

Attached is a screenshot of the forum integration page showing it is set as https but I cannot work out how to change it?

I installed the wordpress https plugin and although I have deactivated everywhere could the saved settings be causing issues?

Another on of the issues is we are getting mixed content warnings and our potential visitors are leaving before they enter because of it. Console error screenshot attached. It is due to the sharethis plugin?2014-11-19-22_40_59-Integration-‹-Forum-—-WordPress.pngImage Enlarger

Look forward to any suggestions you may have.

Regards

Kenn

Apologies I notice I have put this in the wrong location, could you move it to general please.

As an update I have now jumped through all the hoops and updated SP to 5.2.2

Another update - After deactivating and re-activating the plugin on the site it is on the integration page shows http:

but the forum cannot be accessed.

So I changed the default page and then back again and click update permalink and it now says https again. Like the screenshot in the post above.

Update - the forum toolset has now gone so I'm guessing I have a javascript conflict. But the reason we have moved the whole forum to a subsite is to reduce conflicts so I'm not sure where the conflict comes from. Can you please help identify it for me.

Update - I also have a ticket open with WMPU Domain mapping but I am reasonably confident this is an SP issue as it only happens on the forum menu.

When clicking on 'My Sites' in the black admin bar at the top and going to mainsite/forum > dashboard it redirects me to mainsite/dashboard instead of mainsite/forum/dashboard.

In the firebug panel it shows as a 302 temporary move in the Net panel.

you have simple press installed in a subdomain?  so a second complete wp install?   are you sharing users?  or is 'forum' a wp page?

guessing second wp install, otherwise dont see how any less potential for js conflict... which we could help with but you have not provided any details on those... a link to site would also be useful...

is the subdomain mapping (isnt that a multisite plugin) how you are pointing to this second install (or network site) of wp?  if so, how does it do its thing?  .htaccess rule, redirection, other?  seems to be something missing in the process...  the 302 status seems to indicate the same thing...

or perhaps some caching that is stale?

may have missed a couple questions, but lets get some out of the way...

Hi Mr Papa

Thanks for the reply, it is a subsite but we set u with the sub folder not subdomain route

eg. site.co.uk/forum

not forum.site.co.uk

We share users across the whole multisite

As an update I had the forum toolset issue and recalled the only thing I didn't update was the themes. So I went through the process again of activating the forum plugin on the main/default site going to network and themes and updated the two simplepress themes to see if they would fix the toolset but they didn't the whole forum broke, crashed mysql and I had to restart apache. So i have now restored the backup I started 6 hours worth of work ago but I'm just happy it's working again. I just need to get it off https as soon as I can to reduce server load.

If you have a test site and you set the force ssl admin in the wpconfig file do you find it turns all the links https? As it shouldn't because they are in the front of the side and it should only turn login and admin pages https? I did ask once before and we talked that I was going to remove the login form from the top of simplepress to see if that would resolve it because there is a login form does it make the whole forum https? However I haven't got round to trying to remove the form, it would be good if someone could confirm whether the wpconfig change has the same affect for others?

Thanks

Kenn

In honesty I'm not sure how the WPMU mapping plugin works. The mainsite is on a dedicated IP and because of that we set the A records of the other domains to the same IP and then the redirect plugin navigates them to the subsite.

eg. we map directory.com  to  mainsite.co.uk/directory the user always sees directory.com

Hi All,

I know your all busy but is there any advice you may be able to give. I have tested on my dev site and I still get the same issue the forum 'thinks' the site is under https and I don't want it to be.

Did you say that the site pulls whether it should be https or not from the wp_config, how does it do this?
If it takes it from either of these being true

define('FORCE_SSL_LOGIN', true);
define('FORCE_SSL_ADMIN', true);

then this isn't accurate as neither of these should make the whole site https?

They might... If you have forche_ssl_login set to true and you are showing the online login form in the forum header (or in sidebar or other location via theme/plugin) you would likely get this behavior...

Can't have the login form SSL if the page isn't...
