Forgive me if there is a simple answer to this somewhere that I've missed, but I've been all over the various settings and cannot find it....
When I'm logged in (as the Admin) I have options at the top to moderate new posts ("View New Posts" button with counts for Unread, Needs Moderation, and Spam).
When my Moderators are logged in, they don't see those options.
I would like for them to be able to approve new unread posts, but didn't see that as an option in the Permissions set for Moderators.
I'm still on version 5.6.4 but am hoping to be able to update my version of WP shortly so that I can update the Simple Press plugin. If this is something that is not in my version, then no worries as I'll wait until I update.
But if my version *should* have the ability to let Moderators approve unread posts, then I would be grateful if you can point me in the right direction to enable this.

have your other admins or mods enabled the admin bar? they need to enable it to see it... its on forum - admins - your options...
optionally, in the same tab, you can force enable it for them by selecting that option and saving....

Thanks for the quick response, sorry for the delayed reply......I'm still not having any luck with this.
I am the only "Admin", the moderators are not admins so they have no access to the back-end and cannot get to the same 'options' screen that you directed me to.
They can access and edit their own profiles from the front end (forum), however I've logged in as one of the moderators and been through all of the options they can set - display the admin bar is not one of them. When I'm logged in as a Moderator and I click on Profile, there are 4 tabs - "Profile", "Options", "Usergroups", and "Permissions". I can't find this particular option in any of those tabs.....
I don't want to use the checkbox that says "Grant all moderators the same option settings as above" because I don't want them getting the email notifications that I get (which is checked) - I just want them to have the admin buttons. I also don't want to uncheck my email notifications in order to force the admin bar for them because I need the notification to know when new posts are made in the forum.
Unless it's one of those things where I grant (force) it once and it remembers it? So I uncheck to receive the email notifications for myself and then check the "grant all moderators...." then update, then go back and check the email notifications for myself?

moderators should have access to the back end unless you are explicitly preventing it...
so if you wont let mods to back end, you will have to set the options for them... first, set the options for yourself the way you want it for them... then grant all moderators the same options... then go back and set yours the way you want for yourself...

Thank you! That was exactly the solution I needed - this is a very tightly controlled site, very few users have access to the back-end, but your suggestion worked perfectly.
