Does anyone out there have moderators who have reported issues with using the forum toolset in Internet Explorer 9?
We have one moderator who has confirmed she is running the current version of javascript with IE 9 and reports inconsistent behavior of the forum toolset icon as follows...
if i hold my arrow over that space, for a moment i see a tool, and the words 'open the forum toolset'. if i try to click the space nothing happens, no moderator tools appear...
i'm using a toshiba netbook, not a mobile or tablet...i use IE9. the button doesn't even show up, unless i happen to run my curser arrow over it. [I explained this is intended.] then, when i see it, it doesn't activate when i click on it, nothing...
no plug-ins, ad stoppers or pop-up blockers on my end. and, no, i'm not changing from IE9 - it's not worth it to change my browser because this software won't work with it....everyone else in the universe seems OK with IE9, so to me it's a simplepress/tripawds problem... [sigh, we won't go there.]
it is very tempermental, and seems to be several seconds before the finger engages (for only a nano-second, then disappearing)...
it doesn't appear when i click it...i get some quick 'null void' language in a strip at the bottom left, then nothing... even in the topics section, it didn't work...
I reviewed the codex entry regarding jquery conflicts and everything appears to be in order with our site. Just wondering if others are reporting similar issues, or what steps I might take to troubleshoot considering I don't have a PC with IE9 for testing.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

No - we have no other reports of IE9 being any problem at all and Steve tests with IE9 as well and I believe will say the same thing,
Not wishing to sound patronising but are we sure that your user is not just being impatient? IE9 - while a vast improvement over earlier IE fiascos - is still; basically IE (i.e., a heap of almost crap - and I don't say that just to bash IE as IE10 looks like a real winner at last.).
When you hover an element you do need to control the mouse cursor. if you move out of the hover zone it will close down immediately.
You can, of course, always turn off the 'hide' argument.

I assume this too, and have explained repeatedly how one must be very deliberate when using the toolset button. The user is rather adamant, however, that it is in issue with "the software" – whose software exactly, if any at all, is what I plan to find out. Just curious if others have reported similar behavior... thanks!

You could ask them to use a different browser...
Hah! That didn't exactly go over too welll:
it's not worth it to change my browser because this software won't work with it….everyone else in the universe seems OK with IE9, so to me it's a simplepress/tripawds problem
[sigh] She wouldn't even try another browser when I merely suggested it might help us identify the root of the problem!
Thanks for the suggestion though.

OK, I tried this. And after turning off the hide argument with "hide=0" the user was able to expose the toolset without any problem...
i see the little tool box is static. and both in the recent forums posts and in the topic view it worked for me!! the little box showed up in the lower right hand side, with edit, move or properties...
It seems to me that if the button is clicked, the toolset should open up, regardless of whether the icon was previously hidden or not. But the "lower right hand side" location that this user reports is also unexpected.
I've hidden the toolset icon again since it displays in different locations in different browsers and hides certain content (either the date or post number). Besides, we don't want it always on. So I'm just reporting this update to see if it might indicate something else is going on.

Jim, yes... there is no difference in clicking button in either case... but js issues may be preventing the hide/no hide stuff from working properly...
Unfortunately, I am stuck with preriodically testing with IE (damn Andy and his Mac) and its frustrating at best... But IE 9 has proven half way decent at following standards. I have been playin with a preview release of IE 10 and it appears MS might finally get a browser right...
I have seen the icon move sometimes on different sites, but it has always been in same location regardless of browser (obviously my cases are a very small fraction of the possible). Its really the css of the wp theme that can affect its location. But like most stuff affected by the wp theme, you can update the sp theme to position it exactly where you want... If I was going to a fixed display of the icon, I would choose a different location than where it temp shows up...
We can probably help get it positioned where you want if that helps though IE developer tools are quite lacking too compared to any of the other browsers...
And you will get a kick out of this, but on the road and the computer in the hotel ONLY has IE 6 on it! NIGHTMARE!!!

Thanks, but I'd really rather not have the icon always on. If more of our moderators report the issue, I may consider it.
Just seems odd how this user says the toolset opens fine via the static icon but it will not open when the icon displays upon hover. Can't help but think it has something to do with Andy's last post above.

I've been struggling since the past 24 hrs ever since installing simplepress.
I can't open the forum tool set, tried on both IE9 and Firefox 11.0
Also, nothing happens when I click on the Admin Links icon on the upper right on the forum main page.
I can't even delete the test posts that I had created!
fyi - Have all the paid for plugins activated as well
Please advise.
Thanks
