Interesting.... we believe we have found what is the probable culprit to this repeated error entry but not necessarily what the root cause might be. There have been other issues in the past with the better wp security plugin so a good question for Meztli - are you in fact using that plugin?

I am afraid not.

Well, it would be nice for a change if some problems where easy to solve. Like for example deinstall a plugin. But it seems like "issue" and "easy" never end up in the same sentence in my case. cry

No, i meant it as a joke. smile

It would be nice if deinstall a plugin would solve my API issue. But it´s never that easy when it comes to me.

Sorry for my bad english.

I'm seeing a multitude of these errors in our logs too.

file: /simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-auths.php
line: 32
function: sp_get_auth
Notice | Trying to get property of non-object

Coincidentally, since my recent upgrade to 5.1.2 (8910) I have had multiple users report they "cannot post" in the forums. Hard to tell what they mean exactly when they don't provide details, but others have said they "can't get in" ... could this error be related? I'll reset the Auth cache as suggested, keep an eye on things, and provide more details, if I can get them.

this is a harmless notice. It has been corrected in the next version.

Let us know what happens after resetting the auths cache...

Thanks for the update, errors are continuing but it's good to know they're "harmless".

I was kinda hoping it had something to do with these reports of problems posting. One user explained they could log in but "couldn't post in the forums" <sigh> I know, lots to go on there. Others have reported issues "getting into the forums" ... again, not much to go on. I confirmed the first user reporting problems has not been blocked by our firewall, but with a handful of reports now I'm beginning to think this is not coincidental.

At the risk of hijacking this topic, is there anywhere else i might look within SP to troubleshoot such issues?

mmm - not a lot to go on as you say!

Are you able to identify what the common denominator is between the people saying that are experiencing problems and those that are not? If it is only a handful there miust be something that ties them together in some way... specific user group perhaps or permission set?
