Support Forum
I'll try explaining things, but not sure I'm using all the correct terminology.
As our forum consists of about 95% private forums relatiing to a specific event, I've set up a user group and permission relative to each event. I've assigned each user to the correct group with the corresponding permission, but I don't see an option to deny access to other groups. I set up a test user account with a single permission, but I can still see other groups and forums.
Is there a way to have all forum permission listed when managing groups and forums so that I can deny access to them? I could add each individually, but it's taking way too much time adding each of about 30 perms to each of the 30 or so user groups as I have to update after each one, then reopen, etc.
What's interesting is that I've had a couple of forums open with all listed, but only a couple out of all of them.
not sure I follow you...
when you create a group or if you edit a group, you can set the default permissions for any new forums... you can include a few or all user groups with a permission... but as I said that is only for new forums...
for any existing forum, you can edit the forum and assign any user group a permission, including no access, to that forum...
or you can apply a global permission to all forums on your site with forum - forums - add global permission set...
and worth noting, that if you do not assign a user group any permission set for a forum, that is the same as no access... in order to have any access to the forum, the user group must get a permission set on the forum...
also, keep in mind what happens if a user is in multiple usergroups on the forum... all the permissions the user gets are or'ed and the best wins... so if they get a specific access from a user group/permissions set pair on the forum, it wont matter if a different user group/permission set pair on the same forum attempt to deny access...
