Hi I am wondering if there is any way to get the forum to send out a Private message in the forum automatically to new users?
I have a newsletter but I do se some forums do have a PM that you have to read in the forum with information about the use of the forum. The forum is not the main part of our website but I do want register user to start using it more.
Any tips?
The short answer is no – I am afraid we don’t. But I can see that it is quite an interesting idea and I can certainly note it down as a potential plugin although that doesn’t solve your problem of course.
I can’t really come up with anything that would be totally automatic and would encourage a new user to make a visit. Perhaps editing the new user registration email to include a link to a forum topic would go some way…
Ok I do think this who’d be an easy plugin to make just use the first name and merge with a standard text sent to all new members.

Not sure of you mean the sending of a private message or my email suggestion. If the latter then there is no need for a plugin as you can do that now in the SP email settings.
